Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery

Oral and maxillofacial surgery is a specialized field focused on diagnosing and treating diseases, injuries, and defects of the mouth, jaw, face, and neck. It includes procedures like jaw correction, facial trauma repair, dental implants and surgical extractions, often requiring both surgical skill and medical-dental knowledge integration.

Orthoganthic Surgery

Orthognathic surgery is a specialized procedure used to correct jaw and facial deformities caused by misaligned jaws, congenital conditions, or trauma. These deformities can affect chewing, speaking, breathing, and facial aesthetics, significantly impacting a patient's quality of life.

Odontogenic Cysts and Tumours

Odontogenic cysts and tumours are those lesion affecting the jaw which arise from teeth-forming cells. Although, usually benign in nature they can grow to large sizes if left untreated and cause significant cosmetic and functional deformities.

Odontogenic Cyst 1

This is a representative case of an Odontogenic Keratocyst which was thankfully, caught early, during a routine dental xray (which is often the case)

Odontogenic Cyst 2

The entire cyst was removed in-toto using an intra-oral approachalong with the offending tooth. There was no external skin incision and the healing was uneventful.

Odontogenic Cyst 3

Here we can see the entire cyst with its lining along with the tooth to which it was attached. Histopathological evaluation of the cyst revealed it to be an Odontogenic Keratocyst.
